Soon, in a day or two,
The old warmth
Of participation,
Rearing young lives,
Will be gone.
The Last Supper
Has now commenced!
Soon, in a couple days,
The plain electric range
That served this household
For fifteen years
Will be replaced…
One last supper,
Before it’s gone, soon to be gone,
Cooked, the smell,
The aroma of years,
Frightening, and comforting,
A sure, undoubtable
Passage of time, yet,
Whose time? Mine?
Yeah, I guess so,
For this
Is a last, supper,
Of livings-past,
Almost past.
