People say
Get over your past, your present,
Get over your experiences, get over your
Life-convolutions, gloved or not. People say
What you’ve lived doesn’t matter,
Get over it, deal with it,
Forget it, and bury it away. Live
Now. Well, I think we all know
What happens to disorderly corpses
Of unwanted, yet felt, emotional energies,
Entombed within.
They become demons, like in ‘The Exorcist’.
They become holiday-skeletons, like Halloween.
The become angels, like Gabriel and his ‘Sword’.
They become religions, reiterating rote.
They become vampires, werewolves and ‘Frankensteins’.
They become Human, inside bio-flesh.
It’s not so hard to see
‘labeled emotions’ have taken the place
Of ‘inner feelings’. And, it’s not hard
To see why, given this earth’s ‘mind-evolution’.
What’s hard to do is to remember the past,
Relive the experiences and feelings and pains
Of just being alive, through the ages, in the process
Of trying to awake from an absurd ‘sea’
Of frightful fractured mind-magnitude
Into an ocean of soulful peace…
