Hold this baby,
No matter its race,
No matter its sex,
No matter its place,
No matter what else,
Skin on skin recovers hope.
(Less than an hour
In a week, did she feel the touch
Of Happiness light
Upon her skin…)
Hold that thought,
No matter it’s not,
No matter its worth,
No matter its plot,
No matter what else,
Skin on skin recovers hope.
(Less than an hour
Ago, on this blue day, she felt the touch
Of rabbit fur
Upon her skin…)

That is why, in Neonatal Intensive Cares, nurses allow skin to skin contact between the babies and their parents (called kangaroo care, I believe): love at its most naked form does indeed have benefits. An excellent, compassionate message in beautiful verse; well done!
(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
