As sun dawns cold upon a winter’s day,
When grief hides raw behind the life of clouds,
Attritious winds covet Then’s today,
As dead of winter leave the Earth, endowed
With nothing more than memories of How.
When snowfall covers harvest-frozen ground,
When ashes urned stand all alone unfound,
The dead of winter shiver in their Now.
When sun falls below the axis of ice,
When the living chill their hearts with season’s
Blight, conditioned winds blizzard human mice
With crusted drifts of sad frigid reasons.
As night dusks old upon a colder day,
The dead of winter polish winter’s glaze.

*Shivers* I felt every bitter word of this chilling poem: such strong imagery, I felt it down in my bones. Well done!
