Freud is a Fraud! or: Seasons

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Thursday, November 15, 2007

I don’t know
If seasons lived
Become more
Sweet, or more
Bitter, anymore.

I know Autumn does,
Because of rotation.

But, what if the ides
Of seasons lived
Became blades
Of non-welcome,
Bitter, evermore?

I expect Winter will
Freeze my bones of notations.

I’m pretty sure I know
Freud is past, seasons
Of reason change,
So does religion.
Bitter, anyone?

I, personally, am not bitter. Life is what it is and how I choose to deal with it. Faith is important in my life. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't be writing this review.

God bless you. Kathy

At age 15 I was struck by the irrationality of the religion I was being taught. By age 18 I was very upset that grown people could say with utter conviction things that could not possibly be true. I researched many religions and found that each variety was flawed in different aspects but generally in the same vein. All would have you and me believe things that can not possibly be true nor can they have ever been true. As someone said, anyone who can get you to believe absurdities can get you to commit atrocities. Ergo, 911, etc, where religion was in command. Most had some elements of good in them, but in my opinion, none has enough good to outweigh the psychological damage to cognition. Bitter? No. Rational? Yes.

Enjoyed the way your poem is so revealing of your rejection of cognitive dissonance.
Love and {{{{hugs}}}},
Leland
