I watched the summer moon come ‘up’,
Just now, with expectations of answers.
(Star bright, starlight,
Second star I see tonight,
I’m waiting for the Solstice Moon,
Hurry dusk, to down my sight!)
I did the ‘delusional’ experiment
With a pencil eraser’s end.
(Moon peeped its round rim, played
With me, displayed roofs of houses,
Fading away as I gasped with
Its swift finish of totality!)
Closing one eye, the moon and the
Eraser looked the same size!
(Our fathers, who art in heavens,
Did you even glimpse the illusion
From our planetary now-eyes?
I don’t think so…)
I rated the illusion’s delusion humanic,
Ranked high in height by words.
(I watched scant lines of thin clouds
Crown this moon, and, moments later,
Girdle its birth, wisping without reason,
The clouds, I mean, and the moon.)
I checked again when said moon was upper,
The eraser and the moon-size stayed the same.
