Sun Man and Moon Lady

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Wednesday, August 6, 2008

Sun Man commanded life below to bow;
Moon Lady swabbed with heart-grown oldenly brow,
Sun shone blindingly, maybe disguising.
Moon sprung commandeered from not now to know.

Wait! Hold on! There goes that eclipse! I think.
Not alone, never alone. Such wonder,
Why bright, sun continues. Is it a jynkx?
Moon, sprung-Laurened-putty; defined, do you her?

Knowing she can't? Fulsome, yet, hideous?
Sun-bald lands! Do you scream? What if I can't?
Greenery dies as it is awakened.
Veniary is weakened. Even all,

Old should shut up, dynamically. I,
Cosmic-wise. I am but a thorn, reknown.

I had to read this through several times-- the wording was so unique and twisted. But I get this. And I love it! My favorite lines: "from not now to know"... and its twin "Old should shut up, dynamically. I, Cosmic-wise. I am but a thorn, reknown." This is brilliant, and it appeals to my fragmented mind. Besides. It's a sonnet! Way ta go, girl! --Charlie

Unusal sonnet, but beautifully penned - the tale of two Lights in the sky, the one dominating the other - well done, Erin.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
