Ringgg. Or whatever, nowadays.
A click, a melodic voice from the past,
‘Hello?’ “Hello, Barb, this is Erin!
I miss you. Without Mom around,
I don’t know what’s going on
With the family.”
“How’s Megan? How’s my Aunt Midge?
The Olders have become gone.
I miss them all, and
Their days. The incredible amount
Of lived energy, now only stored in a brain
Of passing.”
“With Mom gone, the link’s been cut,
Futured us now not knowing
Much of the others. Sigh. I
Miss my mom. Without Mom around,
Her unenergy collapses mine
in disharmony.”
“Yeah, I love you too, Barb. Shannon
And Lisa? Don’t hear much at all. Oh!
I visited Jeff in Wisconsin! He’s improving from
His brain surgery! Man, it was so good
To see him! Mom never knew he’d had
An embolism.”
Damn! Dropped call! Oh well, it doesn’t
Matter, it wasn’t real, after all, just a
Thought of how I miss my recent past,
My past relatives, and, especially, my mother.
Go wonder…
I had a dream, today, a nap dream. My mom
Was in it, and she was asking me to call
My Dad, who is dead, much longer than my
Mom, divorced, alcoholic, smothered
By other thoughts, gone. I want to know more,
I miss my mother.
