Hey God!

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Wednesday, March 18, 2009

Hey, God!
Do that trick you do, again,
Please. Disappearing. Into
A magician’s hat. Refolding
Yourself into dimensions
Past origami, past reason, past
Rhyme. Just a tiny sphere within
Spheres of past making.

Oh, God!
Do that quick you do, once
More. Obsessing. Unable
To enjoy a trick hat. Refounding
Weselves into prisms of color,
Not line, hue, past reasons past,
Rhythm lives, as a song of freedom,
Chains of past makings.

Ha, God!
I think I understand you, guilt,
A godly cap, crimping and holding
Truth within your tired visions,
Myselves agree. Relativity
Passes itself, again, past
‘Rh’easons births, making

More mistakes….

Erin,
Interesting 'take' and point of view, an exploration worth it in every sense. Well done!

I find this an honest outpouring of your views which I think we are all entitled to express as long as we are not asking others to accept them then I think we have that right. You captured your feelings well...

I read a lot of anger towards God in these lines: there are many things he does I don't understand, why he allows people to suffer, children to be born so disabled they can't do anything, storms to upend our lives - but I do not think he makes mistakes. MAN makes mistakes and then blames God when things go wrong. ... can't help it, I believe in God. I look around, breathe - man did not make nature, life (although he sure is trying, as well as take it away)...anyway, how I feel is not condusive to the review of this poem. Just had to let you know it made me uncomfortable - a wave of the hand, poof! God disappears? Out of body, out of mind? What happened to cause you to be so angry? *Sigh* Can't accurately review this, Erin, sorry ... but did take the time, so I'll leave my mark that I was here. Your writes of late have been so sad, so bitter - is there anything I can do?

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
