Candied Kisses

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Sunday, April 12, 2009

Maybe when we ‘hear’ religion,
We wish it was candy, wish it
Was kisses, wish we were there.

Maybe when we taste decision,
We wish it wasn’t candy, wish it
Wasn’t listed, wish we were here.

Maybe then, we ‘hear’ decision,
Wish it was candy, wish it
Was kisses, wish we weren't there.

Maybe then we taste religion,
We wish it wasn’t candied wishes,
Wasn’t fisted, wish we weren’t here.

Fascinating approach, Erin, to a troubling topic.
Organized religion alwasy does leave a bad taste in my mind.

Much to ponder here, Erin - but "religion" can't fix what's wrong with the world or with man. That's what's wrong. Each religion thinks they have the answer; each one thinks they are the only way. Only one Source who said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father BUT BY ME" (emphasis, mine).

I sit here, stunned at the news that a Sunday school teacher was arrested for the murder of an 8 year old girl. You'd think someone that "good" could be trusted - another slap in the face for religion. JMO ...

Anyway, I digress. You open eyes in spot on lines - well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

I came to the conclusion a long time ago that religion of an organized nature is not truly religion but a social group. Spirituality however is something entirely different...enjoyed this one Erin.
