Do you think,
Eons ago, after there was
Two or more, everyone was happy?

(I look better from behind
Than from the front.)

Do you think
Actions, through ages, are all there is?
In the later-now, are you happy?

(I felt better tonight
Than many mornings.)

Do you think
Just yesterday, things were better?
When years were simpler? Was it happy?

(I don’t see happy
As a real word, anymore.)

Strangely, I feel happy
Right now… Not Happy,
Happy, with myself, being myself. Just happy.

Very few moments of pure joy. Those are for the "big ones", like giving birth. But contentment, yes. It's the acceptance of things as they are in this moment, however imperfect. Ironically, it's a grace which comes after much sorrow. I appreciate this write, Erin. Happy Spring...Lin

I like the seemingly meandering musing over this one word that is all too often overused...it is a mood and though people say things like be happy for this or be happy for that...can we just make ourselves instantly happy because someone advises it. Also liked the formatting of this one too.
