Where Be The Senses?

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Tuesday, September 1, 2009

Where be the senses once awakened true ?
Where would such feelings, found, gather again,
Once age replaces stage? It seems life drew
Its own conclusion’s bed; its inner pain.

I think the senses need awaken new
To press ahead passed memories long gone.
Maybe rebirth should sweep us all askew
To save the senses lost when day is done.

I wonder long among the rushes, lain
Upon an altar strange. Would willow weep
Another past, stoic, within the rain?;
In absent thought I reap emotions deep.

I sigh to linger without sense of peace,
Knowing, like all, my life like death will cease.

Erin,
If peace didn't have to be attained, if it were a given, an inner default, how far we would go, and if "Once age replaces stage" (wonderfully said!) would we be naturals without the pains of memory?
This is a fine meditation, so so worthwhile. Kudos!

John
