Caught a parakeet
With my right hand.
Outside my yard.
Would have died
If I hadn’t.
Finally…
I hate that,
Not the catching,
Love that, thoughtfuls leaking,
People disleasing.
Freakily, I
Caught a parakeet! I did! Outside!
Carried it to a cage, in one hand, put it in,
And brought it into my five-cat house.
It’s sleeping, in my daughter’s room.
Safe.. For now. Told my husband, when
He got work-home, he laughed. So did I.
In the end, I guess, it’s not the catching, it’s
The keeping, even-maybe saving a lost parakeet..
