As I Sit and Sort My Summer Seeds

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Friday, November 23, 2012

As I sit and sort my summer seeds,
Fall is ending, bleeding mummers,
Blending needs with umber hunger,
Ending summers fairied-wonder,
Practiced well beyond creed lumbered,
Dangled by bold deeds pondered, past the point
Of foolish jingles, reentering aged weeds
Of sorrow, breeding dreams of old tomorrows…

As I sift and sort my summer seeds.

End has fallen, seeds are swallowed,
Sitting here upon my knees, murmurs
Sending, feeds are ending summers
Sound, replete with bees of floundered
Needs, repetitive with borrowed-wonder,
Tangled with reads hindered point past
Jungled fools, unentering newborn leads
Of hollows bleeding borrowed dreams…

As I sit and sift my summer seeds.

This comes from the old adage: “we must harvest what we have sown.“ I hope your summer seeds were good ones so that your winter will be mild and pass quickly.

You know the wonder behind who conceived of and gave us the four seasons is nice, but wouldn't it have been fun to have a "surprise" season every year, and different every year. A season that completely dumfounded us. You know, one that would break up the monotony of it all . . .
