Poet's Mask

I looked around, this Halloween,
amazed at what it could mean.
Seen in the norm, no words adorned,
it's looking kinda lean.
So poet's mask, in which I bask,
I slipped upon my face.
Seen in this way, so dark and fey,
I let myself abase.
For scaring here, and booing there,
and laughs on kids I've pulled,
seen to my soul, the darkness mulls,
and poof, gone just like that...
as this one day, of this full year,
let's my "fun" sense loose,
to run and see, to overcome "me",
I could dress just like a moose!

But I was a devil, instead, fun day!
