Shallow Waters
by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen
This pool of calm
shallow water,
lovely and tranquil,
takes but a pebble
senselessly tossed
to ripple surface
that was still.
This calm of mind,
(shallow water)
fluid and at peace,
takes but a word
carelessly spoken
to hurt its depths
with no surcease.
This mind of mine,
(shallow water)
rippled and hurt,
tries hard to hide
from life's pain
in the drowning
of water's dirt.
