Raindrops dapple mountain shadows,
dry-thin aspen leaves
rattle and shiver,
forlornly
greeting winds breath
with yellow memories,
cooled by seasons...

Slivers of friendly sunlight
slash into melancholy,
shafting and softening
life's foibles, soothing
guilt...

Autumn's abundance,
earth's nurturing gift,
reverberates and strengthens
mind-life, showing
joyfulness and
acknowledgement of labor,
freeing selves to reach
for forgiveness,
acceptance, awareness
and, thankfully,
love...

if only for a day.
