The (Un)Life of a Child
by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen
My life is normal, my kids, safe...
*my kids are safe*...are my kids safe?
My kids are safe.
(Have you ever thought...
of the terror of a child
who's been abducted?
*parent's soul wrenches, is ravaged,
beyond repair* I see
horrible images...My mind
cringes~why would anyone...?)
My two girls, are safe, here,
this small town, *he had
visitation rights* is safe...
my kids are safe.
(I can't stop thinking
about "perversion",
obsession, compulsion,
human "nature"...? I...*"die"*
each time I see this,
when I *I die* mind-see
the inhuman horror...)
My girls, I drive them to school,
here, in my safe small town, I
drive my kids to school, only
a city block away, my kids are...safe..
(In my "realized" adult mind,
I cringe, I know, I've seen, I
*want to die, why?
why?
why?
she was a baby, a child, a hope, a
child, she was a child*
learn to hate
predators of filth, of genes, of
enviromental influences, I
hate..I have learned
to hate. I *die*, I
*die*, I *hate* that
I couldn't save "her",
that I
didn't keep "him" tied
by my side, I
am
guilty, yes, I will always be
guilty, I *am dead*
die
every day, like my
child...)
(my child...*tearing sob*
my baby, my child, my life...
I...die every day.)
My kids are...safe.

My kids are...safe?
|
Love, Janet xoxoxo
are any of us safe
great job
if your in a valley
and pain. Are our children
ever safe? Your write displays
perfectly the ache of a heart
waiting to hear about their
child. As you say, Erin..
Is any child safe??
