Agony of Self

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

I am freed-ly,
unhappily aware,
that I am not free,
mentally.

A life in my country
does not mean
you are free, in fact,
I am so bound
by my "way of life",
I can't enjoy
freedom's life...

My kids see me
shine, for them, but
really, I cry continuously
inside, for inequality
shrives souls spirit.

Freedom brings knowledge.

Equality transcends
equanimity.

Good factual point: Many/most are bound by their way of life! Being conscious of this fact is a first step toward freedom. Thanks, Erin
