Sum of the Whole

It is storming
a quarter of the planet away,
in my world, it is warm,
with daffodils blooming.
Robins have been flocking, lately,
in the yard,
eating pyracanthea berries,
teens and adults, gorging noisily,
cycling their life’s pace,
red-orange berries
filling orange-red bellies,
for today, anyway.
People are starving
half the planet away,
in my world, it is warm,
with well-filled pantry.
Population has been booming, rapidly,
unequally,
creating famine, and feast...
one man’s tedious waste,
is another’s treasured larder,
it’s so much harder,
to fill
basic human needs.
Oceans are dying
three quarters of the planet away,
in my world, it is warm,
and stunningly arid.
Intolerance and hatred, careening,
over land’s breadth,
compound mistakes in learning
how to share, and eat life,
with our fellows, oh, humanity...
it’s like an insanity
filling
the hearts of man.
I end up crying,
mourning this planet so grayed,
in my world, it is cold,
life’s draining my spirit away...

This is excellent as always! I love this line...
"oh, humanity...
it’s like an insanity
filling
the hearts of man."
Yes it is!
