Sensitive?

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Friday, March 28, 2003

Perhaps I was born overly sensitive,
I was delivered in ’59,
and the Wars that were fought behind me,
seemed so starkly
cut and dried.

Perhaps I stayed naively sensitive,
I belong to a Generation Void,
and the crimes that once were around me,
were so overly
simplified.

Perhaps I became coldly insensitive,
I am now connected, and worldly-wise,
and the deeds that I see surrounding me,
seem so selfishly
over-contrived.

Perhaps I am once again sensitive,
I have children, and see my coming demise,
while the world is smaller with unreason,
making Life’s path
less a paradise.

Stages of life .. How we see things as we get older.. as we have more to lose.. More to protect. I see his clearly. Our blinders come off and are made to see reality. Hate it when that happens.
Excellent write to you my friend!!

Erin, war doesn't change, we just find more civil ways to kill. Always the same motives are exercised. Loved this fine poem. Bill

Erin, very eye opening. great write. Their is no shame in letting our children know that we do not have all the answers. We are all afraid and to hide our fear from them only betrays their trust in us.

Good Morning, Erin
There was nothing cut and dried about ww2, or Korea. The locales were just different. A fine write with a younger perception.
