Strangely Limited

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Sunday, June 1, 2003

Strangely limited by human senses,
and stretched surreally by the morning,
she extends her awareness
to feel Time.

an ache begins
to know how we can be
earthy eye cannot pierce
cannot see
the strain to capture
an ethereal beam
quivers and shivers
chasing a sun
into contracting past
reflects the moment
but can’t make it last
where is time?

She eases back,
and checks another direction.

the beat begins
a booming heart
the earth expands
blood departs
ears strain to hear
what next will be
vibrations resound
to cosmic pound
she cannot see
cannot see
how we can be
what is time?

The vision closes,
Time has gone on.

the breath of life
spattering free
influx of matter
drowns in the sea
she cannot hide
cannot see
flesh blinds her sight
paining her mind
spiraling down
she hits the ground
and wonders
how is time?

Once again, Time eludes her grasp.

Well-done!! With a very few words, you have expressed the human condition -- not an easy feat!! Write on, dear lady, write on. Hugs and Ten Thousand Long-Stemmed Roses, Pea

...proving once again how sensitivies can be a curse as well as a joy. Erin, me darlin', only a consummate poet can dwell in the land of time and try to pin it down.. then agonize for its ellusiveness, producing a 'timeless' piece to open us all to your findings. You are in a place that eludes many of us, writing masterpieces that reel and shatter. I'm struck with awe at your work.. with your depth.. with your talent. This is magnificent! love, katy xox.

Time can be a friend or an enemy. It's all attitude. Good work, Erin.

Great intense write of feelings.

Time goes by when we least
expect of its passing:

Like sands through the hourglass
it keeps slipping;

and then slipping
slipping
away
