The mystery of being human,
intelligence combined with empathy,
application verses sensation,
truth separated by imagination,
belies the strictures of comprehension.

Feelings are stronger than knowledge.

The woman knows the facts, has seen
the consequences of loving an abuser,
she doesn’t understand
how she stays, her minds says go,
but, no, she is tightly tied to the inaneness,
she wonders why she is ruled
by her feelings.

The man explodes in rage, has seen
the damages he can inflict, and
he likes it, not understanding
how he came to this,
he feels ashamed, yet,
the sensations, overwhelm
his rational self.

Feelings are stronger than knowledge.

She’s always had potential, has seen
her dreams come alive, in her head,
she knows it could come to be,
but, she would rather glide
through Life, she feels divided,
half-emptied, effectively cut
from her reality brain, shadowed,
by lost enthusiasm.

He sacrifices his life to work,
supporting his family comes first, in his mind,
heart is stressed, deep grooves in his face,
he knows he has to cut back,
he aches to let his guard down,
his need to push harder is irrational,
but he cannot stop being a slave
to his ardency.

Feelings are stronger than knowledge.

Another woman-turned-mother cries,
she loves her children, knows
they need to be raised with pride,
it’s in all the books, hard research
into elusive psyche despises
a need to lash out with cutting words,
but, she can’t control the pain
of losing her self.

The man is complacently married,
has tried to keep devout passion true ,
knows his wife is worth fidelity,
but, he sees her through jaded eyes,
softly loving, he only comes alive
with heated emotion,
as he contemplates cheating
on his Life.

Feelings are stronger than knowledge.

The miracle of being human,
sensitivity combined with appreciation,
compassion verses comparison,
proposition separated by conscience,
belies the boundary of awareness.
