As the darkness starts it’s creeping,
sentinels begin their weeping,
echoes sound their “ever-keeping,”
black miasma does its seeping.
Seeing madness,
manic sadness,
inner badness,
compass gone.
Poison staring,
mind despairing,
dogma sharing,
phantom comes.
As the darkness drips it’s bleeding,
memories begin inbreeding,
echoes sound their “ever-pleading,”
black miasma does its seeding.
Feeling error,
coffin bearer,
spinning terror,
vision wrong.
Spirit reaming,
passion gleaning,
maliced meaning,
phantom comes.
As the darkness shows it’s greeting,
anguished thoughts begin their eating,
echoes sound their “ever-beating,”
black miasma has its seating.
Sensing shadows,
hanging gallows,
empty hollows,
mirthless song.
Painful lading,
soulless trading,
heartless blading,
phantom comes.

Inspired by a phrase I thought of earlier today, "the phantom in my mind." :)

that phantom...in one's mind, I, well...
This was powerful, very, for me, to me...such extraordinary verses of the dread...
Oh, damn, it got to me and still, there is this brilliance with words, and it worked all too, too well!
(((you)))
Awed...
stunned, as this was a stunning piece, Bravo!
Best wishes always

Isn't it great when one verse can lead to a whole poem! That is how it happens for me sometimes also! Really enjoyed this...and I can so relate! "mirthless song" That line is great! You capture the inner turmoil so well!
Hugs,
Maria

cadence of the emotions, and the pictures keep the imagination under the beats of
the verses made out with words that only masters can poetize within the frame of
wonders synchronizing images and sounds in a vision that creates more dreams in
my minds as "The Phantom Comes", inspiring and teaching in the art of beauty.
I have learned and I have grown by reading “The Phantom Comes”.
I Praise You, Poet Erin Moen.
Never rest Your pen; don’t let Your quills dry.
