Amazing Strength

Coming from the outside,
a small city girl
in love with a country boy,
marveled. Sense of worth
permeated into large family’s world.
Frozen winters and endless chores,
scant necessities, wooded heat,
endured through 20th century’s mid-life crisis.
Poor was hell, but created strength,
amazing strength.

She had sweeping energy, offspring-driven,
maintained and measured into experience.
Changing locations, seasons, and years,
circumstances remained, compounded
by enlarging families, but she persists,
happily gathering in her wealth,
from her living destiny.

He was quietly active, work living,
taught by impoverished beginnings.
Continuing hard-earned wisdom, passing on
dealing with circumstances, enhancing
his grandchildren’s lives, showing by example,
he provides and brings wealth,
to his living dynasty.

Seeing from the inside,
the small city girl
in love with the country boy,
marvels. Sense of worth
has expanded into the family’s future.
Humid summers and endless fishing,
adequate necessities, wooded campfires,
survives the 21st century’s techno climate,
Life is hard, but creates strength,
amazing strength.
