(The time has come
to refit the pieces…)
“God, this computer
is dragging butt. Hate this,
thank goodness for
defragmentation…”
(She watches in fascination as
the colors slowly change-
light blue to green-pause-
two reds-one dark green;
which belongs at the end-gone-
green-red-blue-going well-pause-
back to the beginning…)
“No, dang it, something’s running
in the background, gotta
try shutting some of this crap
down…shit…”
(Again, the colors slowly pulse,
hypnotizing in their symbolism
of complexity, soothing
in their steadfast beauty of
self-repair, dazzling, diversified,
fluctuating...haunting
to her patterned eye…)
“What a waste of time, sitting here,
watching the process, legend displayed, yet…”
(The pace picks up,
larger patches flash to the
blue of fulfillment,
optimized, beckoning, the allure
of the motion is the inner dance,
captured and mechanized,
a binary life of a different form…)
“Egad, almost done, this takes
forever! There, restart,
redial, verify…and I’m in!
(In the back of her artistic mind,
connections are still being made,
colors are sorting themselves out,
rectangles are aligned, compacted,
she’s been…defragged.)
