Venial Veins

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Sunday, August 17, 2003

bivouacked spirits
sluice through my veins
telling me, I’m insane
and I agree

terrorist moments
scream through my veins
telling me, I’m alone
and I agree

word-wide events
scrape through my veins
telling me, I’m inane
and I agree

evolution’s caprice
sweeps through my veins,
telling me, I’m unknown
and I agree

and I agree

you are eamrkable, as always, this chills me, it is all too true...I love your work, it, it speaks volumes...pain, yes...and our veins, sensitive to such as the inside/outside...yes, you've captured what life can be... for someone who simply 'sees' all too much

Great write. I wrote a similiar poem called Isolated Misery, which not sure whether I like it much, but it seems so true.

Events that happen in today's world have a way of separating us from the pulse that connects us all. How long that separation exists is up to the one affected. This poem made me think sideways for a little bit. Very well done.

I COULD APPLY MARTIAL LAW ON YOU. How can there to say You are alone?>>>Grin < < <

"Venial Veins" is profound and a little sad, but is a reality for most people.

I have learned and enjoyed the reading. "Venial Veins" strikes deep relection of living, and thoughts on existing.

I Salute You, Poet Ein E. Moen.

Erin, I could be waaaaay off here but to me this bellows loudly that we all agree to far too many things, often because we are helpless to understand or to change them.. you've cited the very events/parts in life that can so easily distract us from feeling significant, from contributing to our own need to be heard.. that last "I agree" took this home for me. It's a damned fine commentary and a helluva a poem! That is above question! (smile) love, katy xox.

Nice evolution of the various aspects of the world and self. Like the form of this and the repeated "and I agree" at the end--great way to finish. J.
