Except For Exposure

I understand
poets aren’t compensated
much…
Except for exposure.
Funny,
that is exactly what
we offer.
We expose our spirits,
our hearts and minds,
our thoughts on life.
We expose our husbands
and kids, or the horrors
of our lives. We expose
world events and history,
injustice and happiness,
myths and facts.
We bleed exposure
like other people
bleed blood.
We are the true
exhibitionists…
Anyone can expose a body,
few can expose
their souls.
