Conciliatory Conceit

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Wednesday, August 27, 2003

"Brilliant,” she breathes,
after the hundredth reread,
"I can't believe I wrote this!"

“Why don’t they see
visions given to me
are worth at least a brief glimpse?”

“And how dare they decline
the fruits of my mind
that brings others so much bliss?”

As vanity flares
she’s almost aware
it could have been written by chimps!

Such a clever laugh at one's self. But you know we all think much more of your work than this.

Ahem.. I beg to differ! What you do, Erin, is far from 'monkeying around'.. but I'm with you in the spirit with which this probably hits us all.. I shall now lower my ego and see if anyone dropped me a word.. hehe. This is just plain cool! (grin) love, katy xox.

Oh, as writers don't we have that need for validation and the approval of others. I liked this. Very entertaining!

dear erin-I know how you feel. Though I did managwe to matricuale in graduate school and obtain a PhD-I never got employment walked the roads a long time-wrote poetry-science-photography-no job at anything(no specific degree in photography, education, accounting, writing,
management, ..../ie exact experience and training on how to put bolt A and nut B together for any bolt A nut B job. Found out later somethings were rigged-my photography was award winning-my PhD above standard(was surprised when per i thought responsible that i had no job"want to read a good book?-"read your own thesis"-ask me if I waas angry at him and never added any explanation why he asked or why i had no job.
Later I was told i had written after einstein and i thought"if these police club me any more I'll surpass that" could pickup a guitar any play it melodically with experience-read shakespeare sonnets at a glance i once didnt understand. though even deeper jealousy and narcisim were involved and that I did nothing warrant such a response /rejection-I dont boast-am modest ,respectfull of others, the guy less of as lot of things others take for granted socially-aaand usually had friends and encouragement, well wishes -not tresspassing in my life. I still keep plugging away at it but deserve and earned an iorder of magnituge more than I have-angering yet is that some deserving and earning an order of magniotude less than arein positiobns of authority-successfull-many cscholl cheatwers who trespassed on me as a stepping stone. The total effect 0n society of this oppression and supression I estimate to be not small, if not to cause a total change in the country -like a place slowly poisoned overlong times so it is not detected. As apoor person I have tip toe around, every now and then something basd befalles aa a matter of the random temprement of anomous persons here and there.
I can humble myself , bend over backwards , etc, but deep in my psych my actual respect for thongs on blindness and benefit of doubt I once respected...is dead. A society you could name "land of everything in another name"- regarsdless of the depth of insight granted me into the problems and behavoir aand compromises of others, it(the land just averages in total at its best as lower than my open childs eyes could ever had seen-a place of dead ideal-a loser-my own apparent situation.(how do you like this reply to I have to things i couldnt believe I did) marvin
