(We all start life
with niches to be filled
with treasures…)
Baby born with future bright,
pink becomes the source of light,
parents gem is given free,
opening mind, come, baby, see…
Toddler years spent touching all,
yellow guides in playgrounds call,
sunshine gem swifts time away,
filling mind, come, baby, play…
School days teaching social grace,
purple questions, life-fast pace,
growing gem proffers the book,
preparing mind, come, baby, look…
Endless hours spent working hard,
blue of conquest brings reward,
sky-high gem with clouds of hope,
dreaming mind, come, baby, cope…
Family needs begin their stretch,
red arranging, back is bent,
energy gem eats up the time,
extending mind, come, baby, mine…
Middle age spreads comforts song,
greening vines of living long,
balance gem holds wisdoms ray,
amusing mind, come, baby, stay…
Grandkids scream with life’s delights,
marooning edges not so tight,
dusking gem foretells what’s next,
retiring mind, come, baby, rest…
Rainbow’s end holds chest of jewels,
blackness gilds with golden rules,
freedom's gem releases sigh,
fading mind, come, baby, fly…
(We all hope to end life
with niches that have filled
with treasures.)
