In reverence, I kept reading his words,
amazed to be touched by a survivor of War,
and then I thought, how I was sure,
he would trade that reverence
for normality,
if he could.
In reverence, to families lost,
I picture laughter of children gone,
hear murmurs of contented conversation,
prayers of salvation, of love of God,
that normality
I would give back
if I could.
In reverence, I pledge my mind,
the horror etched in aching time, my eyes
still see that Inhumanity, grotesque in width,
forever impressed into my psyche,
he’s honored me;
I will remember,
and show life
reverence.

Very fine, Erin! Perhaps not one of your most exalted poems, but deeply moving none the less.
