Sweet, this treat of rainy day
dispelling sun that blinds so long.
Look there! A cloud has come to earth
displacing green of mountain’s skirt!
Strip those windows, fling door wide,
inhale the smell of life divine!
Wait, too cold, close it quick!
Flop on couch, chin on hands,
watch the rain go drip, drip, drip,
feel the flow, the slide and slip,
eyeball puddle growing wide…
What the hell! Run, outside,
dance thanksgiving, open gate,
jump in puddle, walk in fate,
tennies sopping, inner glow,
glasses rain dropped, hair gone wild,
smile on face of adult graced!
Sweet, this treat of rain today!
