She’s Mad…

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Wednesday, December 10, 2003

She looks at people in fascination, all the time,
watches them, through an inner eye,
and, what she really wants, from them,
what is uppermost in her mind,
is the ache of yearning
to look inside...
it drives her mad.

There are moments, when the look on a face,
flash-forwards different futures,
where potential glows with possibilities,
and is seen clearly to the viewing mind,
in a second or less.

There are times she seems to be those
futures, as them, bleeds in her need
to live their possible pasts.

She becomes the starving child, the
accident victim, the walking skeletons
of World War II…

She sees it all, the good and the bad,
lives of ants and crows, of possibilities,
always cross her path, she feels it all...
it drives her mad.

I agree, your imagery is excellent. Very intriguing piece of work, Erin -- one of those I'd like read more than once.
