Contrary to popular belief, the veracity of our emotions is unreliable. What our feelings tell us is often untrue. Despite that, I believe it can
be beneficial to use art to express our innermost feelings. (In order to deal with our emotions, we must first attempt to understand them.)
As a result, like other confessional poets, I often write poems that simply express what I am feeling, knowing full well that what my feelings
are telling me isn't exactly accurate. Sometimes I'm afraid that people who read my work don't understand that, and that's what led me
to write this. This combination of poems contains an example ("Unrequited" by the romantic, Bozo The Magic Weasel) followed by a rebuttal
("Monsters from The Id" by the more rational stoic, Roger T. Slug) which was intended to be an explanation.
Two sides of the same coin? Certainly, even in the best relationship, our perception of the other is distorted by our perception to the point where we may completely miss the point in thinking that someone loves us when they do not.
This is so true, our emotions are like the waters of the ocean. that withdraw and recede only to flood the shore again and again.
