BROKEN BIRD song lyrics by Joel Sattler [written in the Rockies riding on the California Zephyr] she was a broken bird lying in the snow no matter what you heard aint what you think you know I bent to pick her up I held her in my hands she said don't interrupt I didn't understand don't wanna fly no more just wanna end it here I didn't see what for she couldn't make it clear I splinted up her wing I kept her safe and warm I didn't ask a thing in any way or form when winter turned to spring I opened up her cage hoped she'd relearn to sing she turned on me in rage she said to let me be she said she wanted peace don't wanna be set free just want it all to cease lost in a hurricane no way I could explain I couldn't ease her pain never saw her again if you should find some day a broken bird in snow you leave her where she lay you have to let her go broken bird broken bird my sweet little broken bird..... ===============

Poor little broken bird.....but it's obvious you cared about her. There's something special about this sad little story that makes it good to read. Our good often goes unrewarded just like in your story of the broken bird.

So that's why you haven't been posting. Sounds like a great way to travel.

This is one of your best. So many can identify with this song.

I found a broken bird about 10 years ago and mended her wings several times, but she had a tendency not to fly well and kept breaking them. This time I will not mend her anymore and hopes you will be able to fly away on her own.
