Thank you for the interesting prediction and the tour of interesting sites to visit in London. The Bullet Train you describe is technically feasible using either MHD suspended rail or compressed air to reach the 2000 mile-per-hour velocity required. I'm not sure that a tunnel that deep and that long can be bored, because it may be getting too close to the mantle and may be affected by the movement of tectonic plates. The English channel tunnel proves that the tunnel can be bored, probably with robotic boring because for humans to be at the tunnel face a thousand miles from shore might be a very difficult undertaking requiring very fast shuttles getting them back and forth.
On my trip around the world, I planned (very loosely) four days in London and then four days in Paris on my way to Frankfurt… etc., on Pakistan International Airlines… A 747. Trouble with the plane delayed our flight from 4 pm to 5 am. The sun came up on the flight (December 21--my birthday) shortly after takeoff and was going down while we circled Heathrow. I was on the phone a London friend connection, when it was announced that our plane was leaving with our luggage in 10 minutes. My friend and I jumped on board because we didn't want our luggage in Paris without us.
Arriving in Paris, we were on our landing and the lights of the runway were flying past my window when the pilot accelerated and announced that we were going to Frankfurt. We arrived in Frankfurt about 10 pm, so I haven't figured exactly our time on the two flights. Someone on the flight with us told us not to pay for an expensive cab and we took the cheaper train to the downtown station and a cheap hotel across the street without heat. After we warmed up under down comforters, about 3 am, I got some sleep.
