It's hard to say
hard to hear it said
I'm not ashamed
I've been in love before
It's like a miracle
And I…
Can be
The hero
or maybe more
Or not to be
If I could choose
I'll never find a single heart again that isn't taken
I'll never find Ophelia who hasn’t drowned before
I spent about a thousand days in jail for crimes I couldn't have committed
But I just can't go back and say no
but still the rain keeps falling in my open hands
Until the pain rises up and opens up the door
Oooo I've got a fate in store I can’t ignore and I can't fake it
The hurricane inside of me is more than I can take anymore
It's time
to see
the mirror inside of me
It's time
to see
Where I stand with you
It's time
to see
If zero
is more than me
It's time to be
if I could choose
This one is unusual and probably an experiment. But it caught Katharine's eye and it caught mine for a different reason… An apparent disconnectedness. But if I could hear the changeup and melody and cadence as you shift gears, it probably will come out much better in song.
This song of sorrow and regret is rich with metaphor and double meaning. My favorite line is: "but still the rain keeps falling in my open hands Until the pain rises up and opens up the door". I think it would be worth it to insert this line a second time somewhere in the song, as well as the following two lines. Would like to hear this set to music!
