i'm feeling my mortality today,
feeling it, not facing it

silent shifting seas,
shifting shining sands,
shining silent stars,
indifferent voyeurs all,
staring shamelessly, blankly,
through the hopeless wreck
of time, my time,

sharing neither sorrow
nor regret at its end.

lament seas,
wail sands,
weep stars,
be not indifferent
stare not dumbly
upon mine end

regret the passing of one
for whom time flies.

but no, timeless ones,
you mark not our passing,
we who flit like sparks
beneath your gaze:
for though we take
ourselves so seriously
we are naught to you

Is there meaning to it all? Quite a mystery. I like this poem, it's well composed, and it affects the reader emotionally as all good writing should.
