Sight and Sound

by: Felix Perry

I’ll not weep for prayers unanswered

Nor pray for what can’t be

I am alive and I have sound and sight

That’s good enough for me

I can see the landscape painted

Fall’s shades of red, orange and green

I can see a smiling child at play

Too young to know the word mean

I can see a woman’s love of child

As a babe suckles at her breast

I can hear grand-daughters laughter

One of the sounds I like the best

I hear the oceans breakers crash upon shore

See our table set with more food then we eat

I can hear the wind songs through the trees

I can stroll along on my own feet

I smell flowers that I see growing wild

Hear the birds sing nature’s voice of joy

I see the Northern Lights and stars at night

I heard the roar of a hot rod a big boy’s toy

So all in all life is what you see and hear

I’ll not weep and I’ll not shed a tear

God gave us so much to be thankful for

Just stop and count your blessings evermore.
