Is It My Time?

It is my time
To pass in review?
To stand
Before the all mighty
To bare my soul
Befor him.

To see my first steps
In life
The smile on my mother's face
My father reaching
As everything started
falling into place.

Happy he was
his little baby
will soon be no more
First day of school
I did not cry, I stood tall.

My first gentle kiss
Puppy love
holding hands, walking her home
nothing in my mind
Can ever go wrong.

The prom night
The dance, hidden kisses
first attempt
a slap on the hand
humiliation
Love her still.

War drums and saber rattling
like a brewing monsoon
As dragons,
rumble in stormy skies

All young men falling
Into line
A president is dead
now we chosen war intead.

A military salute, from dad
A tear from mon
Off to war
Time flew, and I returned
Safe and sound, unhurt
Thanking God still.

A Fathers embrace
A shoulder full of teras
from a worried mom
Happy she is, I am here.

She waited for me
My love grew
we met at an alter
Vows exchanged
True love in hearts,
Into each other's eyes
we promised never to part.

Three children blest our lives
they fared well under one nest
time traveled so fast
one by one they left
All are gone

we are now left with an empty nest
As changing times
and bodies begging
for killers of pain
feeling never known,
Never expected
in these over powering aging days.

Yes it's my time
To pass in review
Pay the piper,
And the fiddler too.

Life passes so quickly that we turn our heads and we have gone from baby to parent, from grandparent to widow/er and finally from temporary to eternal. Well done, William you have touched on the truth of life.
