I woke to a lovely morning
The sun caressed
My face
Washing away the reminisce
Of a nightmare
That was beginning to bloom
I knew that this day
Was going to be different
Full of pain
Like these years
That's been a burden
Upon my shoulders.
~~~~*~~~~
The birds
No longer sing for me
The rocks
No longer wish to whisper
The lies
That they used to
Once upon a time
The morning dew, is no more
It has dried
Like my tears
That no longer run down
The salty tracks
On my face.
~~~~*~~~~

The years have brought
Only pain
That make me
Forget the youth
That I continue searching for
Within my dreams.

Heart-Wrenching poem, William. We must all bare witness to
age though and pain. Pain teaches us. You still have the
vibrant side of youth left in you, whether you realize it or not!
Try to reach your "inner-core". As one person said, "Go play
in the rain, screw what the neighbors think!"
Love to you, William,

Who we are never really changes, William, but how we perceive ourselves does. We must allow our child to live and to come out and play sometimes if we are to ever be happy as adults. Wonderful write, a bit sad though.
Take care,
Sherry

This rings William, clearly. It resonates deeply.

Leaving my youth behind has been extremely painful. Time is harsh and unforgiving. That's what makes it so painful. But it is the rocks, the birds, the trees, nature herself who gives meaning to Time and makes it easier to endure.

This is a beautiful poem, it reaches right into the core of the reader.

Somewhere within you still lies a young boy waiting to be rediscovered...While our bodies age us as does circumstance if you continue your search I hope you find that child...Strong write..felt your sadness then looked at your profile and can only imagine what you have SEEN and FELT in your lifetime...I send to you my respect and hopes for a better day!! Next time it rains, run out and frolic...screw what the neighbors think ;]

William I agree with Jerry, and also know that the search for youth has no beginning and no end, just like life, only momentary pauses!Wonderful poem!

Ah, yes, but the youth you seem to have forgotten, William, is still with you, inside your brain. And it is better that the youth you used to know because along with this youth you have gained knowledge and wisdom.
