interesting... "hope" is the one concept that did NOT seem tied to religion or church or society and it has been the one to lift me as a feather and keep me drifting toward a future. enjoyed your poem, Dawn

"To me Hope Is like A Religious thing A word Mostly used or mentioned In Church." Many people think this and it is probably used in "religions." Christianity is not a religion, so, hope to me means Knowledge, assurance. Sort of like Jude said. But I say, A desire for the light, a knowing that I will see the light. When used in casual conversation, it takes on an entirely different meaning. Very good write.

Good thought provoking poem William! Hope is usually the thing wished for,You wish for something and hope you'll get it.;-) Desire, yearning, craving all in the same family. You wish people would read the poem and hope it meets the challenge;-)..hahaha

Hope, desire and wish all belong to the same family. Let me say they are birds of different feathers. If wish and desire are the dove and the eagle, Hope is the ostrich. From another viewpoint, one can have a hope without a wish or a desire but cannot wish or desire without having hope in the first place. You can wish and desire within the framework of hope. HOpe seems to be much heavier than the other two as one would pick the word Hope when trying to say something implicated to Eternity or God though he/she was able to use wish or desire. Put it this way again: nature has a wish to serve man at his satisfaction by providing all what he needs but hopes that he shall not destroy it. A thought-provoking piece.

Hope is wish and desire both only perhaps a little bit more passive, more muted. It is the only thing that sees us through this life. Nice write :-) shoma
