A Thoughts traveled through
My Mind
Yet it was silent
The morning is quiet
Where are the critters?
Are they hiding?
I don't see them
I can't hear them
Are they stealthily
In a secret place there?

Why are my thoughts, so silent?
I can hear myself thinking
I don't understand
When thoughts of bomb shells
Explosions occur
I get a sound effect within
To accompany the idea.

Am I dead?
I don't think so
I am sitting in my garden
Eating a bowl of ceareal?
"cheerios?"
The only sound I hear
Is my spoon striking the bowl
We don't use paper plates
Yet My Thoughts Are Still Silent.

Silence is a place that is either frightful or welcomed this poem is with deep expression I enjoyed it very much.

Where I live, silence dominates and most of the time, I'm glad for it. Yet I am only minutes away from the city. Sometimes, the difference between the two shock me. Your poem really made me think (and feel the silence). Thank you. Happy New Year, William. Love and peace,

Regis

Good think you aren't eating Rice Krispies...you'd go crazy from the noise. ROFL.

Have a great New Year, William.

This certainly does have an erie, end of the world feel to it. But, then again, it could just be a quiet reflective time when you shut out the world. Excellent write.

An eerie feel to this write, William, and since I'm thinking about all our vanishing critters in our modern world these days, it really struck a chord with me. Hope you at leat enjoyed those Cheerios.

Clever metaphysical type of write. Has an almost sinister feel to it.

Although very apt for today. No birds or squirrels about. Due to the falling snow. Seems strangely quite too.

so, is this a good thing? silent thoughts? i think, maybe so...but i like the way you use the mundane to explore the existential...
