In the evening
After a hard day's work
Of murdering and torturing
Dispensing what he thought
Was Justice.
He settles down
In the comfortable softness
Of a golden throne
24 karats no doubt.
Listening to old blue eyes
Crooning him a tune
As he sips his favorite
Johnny Walker Black
Slowly feeling it's warmth
Coating his throat
Leaning back
With his eyes closed
Savoring
A serene utopian moment.
~*~
He is rudely interrupted
From his last dream
Of Arabian Knights
In his once upon a time.
His hands are cuffed
Removed from his cell
He walks
What is called, his last mile.
He climbs 13 steps
Without assistance
He stands center on the trap
Jerks his head, to one side
As the executioner
Attempts to place a black hood
Over his head
The wordless gesture
Is honored
He'll not rob the witnesses
Of their appointed duties.
~*~
A noose is placed around
His neck
As he chants his final prayers
The trap is released
Infinity was but a few feet down
Feet dangling, he breathes
No more.
Now we witness
A dead human body
Shrouded in the purity of white
I can almost feel a tinge
Of sorrow
For the human body
Laying by our feet
He is no longer possessed
By that monstrous demon soul
That was incarcerated
Within him
Now exorcised, by the noose
And descended, to the hell
Of his origin
All that is left, is a human body.

Evil hides all over and this human body was taken advantage of by the evil the host reigned there. Somewhere the justice of his death is but a small price to pay from the Hell Saddam ruled. Here's praying that evil learned a lesson but I doubt it.

Well If you do the crime you
Must do the time in Saddam Hussein case was hanging was his
Sentence I don't believe on the death penalty,
And I also think that the only one that has the right
To end a life is God,
But in this case all I can do is prayed for this mans
Soul in this case is more than he deserves.
Excellent and very profound write!!
Wishing You and your Family a very Happy New Year..Morning Star

I hate hangings and killings. I also hate treating others as beastly as some do in this world William you penned with such depth once again.
I know the real world will always have those that hate, harm and even kill.
But I pray and always wish for peace. FOR ALL!
Excellent work
Blessed NEW YEAR WILLIAM
God Bless,
Joselyn

I wasn't sure where this was going as I read the first few lines, then I realized with a gasp...OH! Such a timely, expressive, and extremely well-penned poem, William. This hits the mark on his "monstrous demon soul"...Wow!

Have a Happy New Year, friend!!

A very well written piece...
God lets no man go, without first judging the man as a whole...how he came into this world, who taught him well, who might have affected him so treacherously that his only survival might be the path he chose? Who knows?, I will never, you will never...but one day all of us will know, had it been up to you and I?...had it been our family affected...Who knows? I for one would rather see any man suffer for his actions in a cell, rather then let him off easy in a noose... but, who am I?
A women, with a heart, with compassion, with commandments, with everyone of my children unaffected, and still alive...Who can rightly understand, anyway...?
Good write, it got me ranting...
Love and Peace~

Well written, William. I struggle with even finding words about that hanging and I am surprisingly emotionless about it all. His people decided his fate, one that I think was too easy, one I think made very little point other than to perhaps offer some closure and perhaps a feeling of justice to all whom he hurt. Hanging him reduced him from the omnipotent figure he believed himself to be to that of a common man. I don't know if capital punishment is really justice, but it has now forever silenced a man with a thirst for power and glory that turned him into a murderous monster who visioned himself as a demigod.

Take care,

Sherry

Sure, Victor, the demon is the culprit. Who are we if not our demons . . . The hell with this piece of pig meat . . . I never understand, nor do I ever want to understand, the excuses we make for the truly mean people who populate this earth . . .

There has been many who have already condemned him to hell, you rightly condemned the demon in him to hell. God is just, he has already received his just sentence, as we all must when the last breath is taken. A great contrasting poem that should be a lesson to all who try to wield power. The might will always have a great fall. Victor
