The twilight of my dreams
Is filled with words
Clashing with one another
While in a state of limbo
I awaken from my dream
Waiting to be folded
Into each other
Like egg white fluff
Into a cake mix.

They present themselves
Just before dawn
As sleep still dominates
My thoughts
Dumbfounded And baffled
I try to make sense
Of it all.

No rhythm, no rhymes no verses
No sonnets nor poems
None worthy of romancing
Into lines
Of a love song
Nothing sinking in
The sponge is dry
The surface harden
With stubbornness.

I know these feelings, William; when one is "empty of words." I am often in that state and I refuse to "force" myself to write. So I wait for inspiration. I can relate to what is expressed in your verses here. Thank you. Love and peace to you,

Regis

William,

'Waiting to be folded
Into each other
Like egg white fluff
Into a cake mix.'

That surface can't be too hardened, to produce a beautiful turn of verses like this!

You're a renowned NY (Retired) Policeman, William....you can breakthrough ANY stubborn surface!!!

Love and Hugs and Respect,
Rhonda

round that dreaming head of yours.

Thoughts of a poet,We all tend to lose our nightly thoughts, If I awaken and don't immediately write thoughts down, then they're gone...

I guess there are far worse things to dream of, William, than words. A most interesting piece.

Well formed and expressed, dreaming of words, searching for words, words from dreams mixed with nighmare.
The mute's scream.
Great.

Guess we poets need to have a notepad at the side of our bed so we can jot down what's running through our heads. Perhaps wake up, write down a little then return to sleep. Very good write.
