Last snow of 08

Yesterday Morning

The wind blew an icy chill

Deep into my bones

As I near a serene babbling brook

Just a few feet from the edge

Of the woods

As I listened to the mini rapids

Just rolling down hill.

The howling wind

Rushed through the bear trees

Bringing warnings

Of something residing in the air

Descending upon us.

A calmness has arrived

Between each flake swirling silently by

Powder snow gently falling

The silent that surrounds me

Is deafening.

Even within my head

I can hear myself thinking

Only the dull crunch

Of the dry snow beneath my feet

Breaks the silence

That dwells within my head.

William,
I like the contrast between the many different images here. There's an overall feeling of peace, maybe because of the alone time. A great poem:)

Hello William,

Philippines is a tropical country and most of the time, it's hot. But as I read you poem line after line, I can almost feel the icy cool air, the snow beneath my feet. I think that serene babbling brook is so refreshing.

May 2009 bring you good luck, peace and everlasting love.

Be well,
Sheri

Nothing beats walking on dry snow which gives that crunching rhythm with every step to acompany the silence.

A beautiful scene you paint in verse, William. Happy New Year!

Snow? Think it's white. We don't get that 'round this neck of the woods too often. LOL

Yes, you have captured this last snowfall of 2008 so well. We received almost 8" of snow in one day. Can I go back to Florida with you?
Much peace, love, and light,
