A tale told

A friend once said to me
Within a dream
When I was
A lad in my youth.

"Listen to my tale
And when the time comes
Expose it to the world"

Those that think
They knew me
Thought I was
A Buffoon
A monkey on a string
For to them
I was
what they wanted me
To be.

To those that knew me
I was a writer
A scriber of words
Lines, verses and songs.

A poet
Who created words
Within a mind
Seeking knowledge.

To those who read
My written thoughts
Upon pure parchment
With the red ink
Of inspiration
I am just a humble
Poet.
