Silent words

Your eyes spoke
Silent words
As mine locked
Within the mystery
Of yours
but for a second.

I awed
at your loveliness,
your Mona Lisa smile
And the natural beauty
Blessing the heavenliness
Of your Face

I felt passion deep within
As if our soul
Knew each other
In bygone eras
Of deadly chivalry.

For you were
That maiden
Others dared
To cross sword for
With me
As my dropped gauntlet
A knight chose to accept.

The challenge
was answered
The battle to my surprise
Was Swift
His sword found
Its target 'neath
An armor plate slit

I laid gasping
My lifeless lips
Felt the warmth of yours
As you once
Shed a tear.

Now you stand before me
As my lips thirst
Once more
For that once upon
A time
Gentle kiss upon mine.

How beautiful. Too bad he did not win the battle to receive his reward of more than warm lips. How very sad. I agree with Jerry, intoxicating.

So romantic and bittersweet.

William,
To have had the experiences of the first look, the awakening of desires, the connection of souls, and of course the kiss... almost worth the blade.
Thanks,
Chris

I love a good, well-written tearjerker! Have you ever seen the painting, Meeting on the Turret Stairs? This reminded me of it for some reason.

A classic challenge that went terribly wrong… Or right… Depending upon how you look at it. After all, wasn't if they love to, "die for?"

Very prosaic with wistful words of love.
But dang, you got the sword and a kiss...
he got the girl, hardly seems worth it.
I suppose love must win out after all.

What gallantry in word form, William, this was very, very intoxicating to say the least.

Chivalry is not dead! I really enjoyed this and got tears in my eyes when she gave him love's last kiss. Beautifully written!

Love ya!

Jane
