This Shell Of A Man

Appeared you did,
Into my life,
At a time, my soul,
Was prone to pain.

For my heart,
Was still in chains,
From the past,
Tortured moments.

Where scars and aches,
Were left behind,
Walked away I did,
With this shell of a man.

Warned by,
Treachery and misery,
From a woman,
With her, perfidious ways.

Broke my heart, she did,
Leaving me, without a soul,
Till this very day.

Yes, William, I get a sense of being overwhelmingly crushed here. This is a sad one. Definitely a poem written in that transition period where all is doom and there's no hope on the horizon. A truly human moment we've all felt at least once.
Love and Hugs,
Sheila
