~~~~~*~~~~~
Come meet my new pal
You will see him
regularly
hanging around me
For a while.
~~*~~
He is, My New Companion
Really takes aload, off me
He's not heavy
Nor is he my brother.
~~*~~
Meet my cane
There are many like him
But this one
Was assigned to me.
~~*~~
Aluminum and plastic
To ease my pain
In my younger days
I never thought of him
To ease my pain.
~~*~~
I, At times relied on
A nice white lady
With the same sounding last name
Caine.
~~*~~
I think
Her first name was
"Co" or was that "Coke"
Yes she was cool then
Eased my pain.
~~*~~
Gentle white Lady
Cocaine
Made me feel so good
All the same.
~~*~~
Well, if you know her?
She been around
For a long time
Like fashion.
~~*~~
She weaves in and out
From decade to decade
At my age
I rather my cane
cheaper too
To ease my pain.
William, my cane is purple, and I hate it! But, the alternative is worse. Love this piece, and the double meaning is great!
I had to walk with a cane for a time. Hated it, but it was better than a wheelchair. I liked this poem. Definitely worthy of my time.
